I'm Baaack

Okay, back from my 2 wks in Cali and road trip with L and K, SO fun -all of it. Now, reality sets in. We leave for Ireland on August 27th, tickets are officially purchased and the fun begins...NOT! Seriously, I need to vent my frustrations about this current predicament of being homeless and having California licenses that are about to expire. Deep breath. Okay, so we can't exactly "re-apply" (or whatever you call it) for our current licenses b/c we don't have an address, our registration is due on one of our cars and so that is also an issue. So, do we become Oregon residents in the next 3 wks? Use Adam's parents address for ours? (I should mention I JUST got done paying for our other car to be registered in California). I SO do not want to have to take another driving test, deal w/ the DMV, etc. We need current licenses to be able to drive in Ireland and since we are leaving in 3 wks and 2 days we're running out of time for all of these details. Then there is the issue of car insurance....so, do we cancel our policies, etc in California and have to get new insurance in Oregon? But wait, why do we need car insurance if we aren't driving in the US? Well, apparently the "smart" thing to do (whatever) is continue to pay liability in case oh, I don't know, someone hits our car on the street in the burbs of Oregon? (I'm sure stranger things have happened but man alive I'm tired of thinking about this stuff!!!) Sigh...sorry for this long blog post and that its me ranting about things that of course in the grand scheme don't matter at all...just the things swirling around in my mind, fun. Oh, and did I mention I just got summoned to jury duty in Los Angeles? How do I explain that I don't really live there any more but wait, I did just re-register my car there didn't I? Awesome.
On a lighter note...I loved my time in California, visiting with friends, seeing B play w/ her friends, soaking up the sunshine, etc. My road trip with Lauren and Kelly rocked and of course I have a million pics to go thru so...stay tuned. I promise, the next post will be much more fun. :)

sweet sister! Hang in there!! I know these details are frustrating and seem never ending. I am confident you will get it all tied up (and beautifully to boot) in the next few weeks. Praying for strength for you - and hoping this "word" will susatain you like it did me 2 weeks ago (Isa. 46:4)
Even to your old age and gray hairs
I am he, I am he who will sustain you.
I have made you and I will carry you;
I will sustain you and I will rescue you.

I like to think he know exactly how many gray hairs we have right now (I know you know what I'm saying!!) and how many we're going to have after all of this is over! =) Good thing all of it means we're wise!! love you so much!

I know there is nothing funny about anything you wrote, but forgive me, I'm kind of chuckeling. You are so awesome at expressing your frustration! It's full of side notes and sarcastic comments... I can totally "hear" your venting!

histreasuredpossesion: your comments are probably more along the line of the proper commenting for this post.

But good job explaining your Fed-Up-ed-Ness, Molly!

Well I can't say I've ever had to figure out where to license my car because I'm homeless and moving to a foreign country, so..... I will pray for you!

Go with getting the Oregon DL.
Too bad you just registered your car in California, you could've saved a quite a bit of money doing it in Oregon. Also, insurance is cheaper in Oregon.
It is kind of an odd spot you're in.
Good luck!

I'm exhausted just thinking of all these decisions you have to make. What a pain in the you-know-what!

It was so nice to see you again down here in hot, dirty, smoggy LA. Maybe next time it will be in balmy, gray Ireland. Guess we should start buying those lottery tickets, then.
