Thanksgiving in Ireland

Despite missing family we had a wonderful Thanksgiving here in Ireland with friends! Grace and John had us over to their house, and between us we managed to pull off a traditional Thanksgiving with all the fixens! (Thanks mom for shipping over the pumpkin!) Il-Seung (who is from Korea, and is working at DBI here for 9 months) was able to join us, so we had a nice little crowd to share in our American tradition. We have so much to be thankful for and yesterday it was apparent that no matter where you are, you are never really that far from home.

Gloria & Grace

Grace's husband John is working on his Phd at DBI (where Adam works) so we have had instant friends from the moment we got here! Grace and John are also from the US and have helped us feel right at home here in Ireland (they had already been here a year by the time we arrived). Grace and Gloria have kept Brennan and I company this week while Adam has been out of town. Yesterday Gloria was on all fours so Grace and I gathered around to see if she was going to take her first crawl...well, she didn't crawl just yet but she had some great smiles so I captured those instead!

Thanks for letting me snap away girlies, and for playing with us all week!

if you ask me to babysit...

you need to know that your child may get photographed and end up on my blog. :)

It was fun Gloria, lets do it again sometime!

I caved...

I did it, I bit the bullet. After months and months of saying "I won't give in!" I did, I joined facebook. Sigh. If I never blog again b/c I'm too engrossed in facebook then everyone is to blame! (well, everyone on facebook anyway). So, go on, ask me to be your friend...you know you want to. :)

Paris Wrap-Up

In summary, if you get the opportunity to go to Paris -GO!! If you can go without a 2 year old, yeah, do that. :)

Flying back into Ireland

Um, did I mention its really green here?

People of Paris

Parisians were actually pretty darn friendly! There was the occasional language barrier that proved to be difficult at times but overall, not too bad. Of course, there was that crazy lady who spit on me but...I'm pretty sure she was in fact crazy so I'm trying not to hold that against the general French population. Here are some shots I snapped of people who caught my eye, hopefully the pictures will speak for themselves.

Come on, does it get any more French than this?!

This is one of my most very favorite images from the whole trip, I love it.

Random

A friend asked me if I saw Paris with both of my eyes. The truth is, yes! The thing is yeah, sometimes having a camera can be a distraction and I intentionally don't bring my camera with me at times b/c I don't want to "miss" the experience by focusing too much on getting a shot. But, in the same vein, I feel like having my camera allows me to really see. I pay more attention when I'm being intentional (imagine that), and feel like I see more of what I came to see. I feel I can honestly say that I indeed saw Paris with both of my eyes ~ and I can't wait to go back and see more! (some day I hope!)

This photo was the first one I took in France, we were at the airport waiting in line to get our bus tickets to Pairs. I grab my camera to snap this pic and Brennan decides to stand up, thus shifting all the weight on her stroller and everything (including her) comes falling down. Welcome to France Winn Family!

I love carousels, there is something magical about them I think.

My first Starbucks latte since I moved to Europe! (nice birthday surprise)
