(I took this pic standing on my porch to show HOW CLOSE we are)

COME ON!! How easy would it be to walk across the street and carry home our Christmas tree?! I'm thinking easy and simple, lets do it! Adam on the other hand is insisting that since we live in Oregon we must go out to the boonies and cut down our own tree. Sigh. I realize cutting down our own tree seems like a fun "Christmassy" thing to do but I don't know that I can get past the convenience of walking across the street and having the whole process over in a matter of minutes. So, this is where you all come in, I'm taking a poll - should we: a) walk across the street and get our tree and call it a day or b) go into the woods and cut down our own tree? Come on, lets hear it! I don't want to be lame but its just sooooooooooooo close!! Thoughts?

i'm into simplicity this year. and one of the healthiest trees we ever got came from home depot. i say WALK.
Hmmm...This is a tough one but I'm going with Adam on this. Unless time is absolutely at a minimum I think the family bonding activity + photo-op outweighs the convenience factor. Especially since you've haven't had a tree for a couple of years now.
On the one hand...how many times is your life will you be able to just hop across the street to get your tree? I say that's memorable in itself! ;) Miss you guys!

I'm all about across the street- that seems VERY sweet to me! Besides, haven't you seen Christmas Vacation- cutting down your own tree isn't all that it is cracked up to be! :-)
i'm always up for a walk in the woods! especially since the cut-your-own lots usually offer hot spiced cider and mini candy canes!
I gotta go with kelly on this one... the photo opp's seems pretty irresistable?!?! But clearly the green thing to do ... is walk... I think... ;)
Every year we get ours from a church parking lot about a mile from our house. It's awesome.
Walk.
I say it's a sign. Walk across the street and spend the time you saved on a family hike... without a saw... and save a tree's life! Or go with Adam's extended family on their cut-down experience, while you wait for your tree from across the street to dry in the backyard. You can still have the photo op and quality family time that way without the mess and hassle of actually having to cut and lug and transport and tie up and etc....
I will always remember going into the woods to cut down a tree with my dad. Brennan will remember going with you guys to get a tree in the woods for the rest of her life...going across the street just isn't memorable. Make some memories Molly!
Wow - that is SO tough....
I love love LOVE real trees - and I can only imagine the smell you have on your front porch! sigh....fabulous.
One of my fav views this time of year is the Christmas tree ON the car on the way home to be decorated.
One of my least favorite things to do is to load the tree int he car, unload the tree, shed the needles, etc.
SO - if I were you.........I would go to the fields, maybe cut a small, teeny tree for B's room, or your bedroom - and then get the big family room tree across the street. (big fan of 'doing it all'...)
I just designed our christmas cards with your AMAZING pics! I can't wait to get them printed, stuffed and addressed!!! YOUR pics inspired my entire Christmas decor this year!

Cut it down, lady. You're in OREGON. Unless it's raining. Then walk across the street.
:)
you know my vote.
WALK!
it's just not a year to go get it yourself...
This one is easy Molly. Walk across the street. Abel's right on the money. Adam is a fool.
last year we opted with with the "easy" and going down the street to get our tree. it was so close we did not even have to tie it to the car. we had our tree in a stand with in 30 minutes of walking out the door to buy it. we will never do it any other way again!!!
I say walk across the street. Tracy (see above comment) has the perfect King Solomon's Wisdom solution, which you can incorporate. But unless you LOVE getting stuck in mud or snow, risking severed limbs or fingers cutting the tree, not finding a nicely shaped tree for hours, and vacuuming the car when you get home, then WALK OVER AND BUY ONE. On the other hand, Adam is a very cheerful person and would probably not get irritated at any of the above problems, but the Amazing Larry would be gritting his teeth, believe me.
Get 2 trees. One small one that you put on your porch with just lights and one for inside the house. You get the best of both worlds.
I think you should walk across the street to get the tree, it will save lots of time. Plus the real fun is decorating the tree with your family!

Hi Molly:
I've noticed that Kemi hasn't voted yet. That makes me nervous!
I say, go to the lot, see if you like any there...if you do, take it home with you and be decorating it within 30 minutes.
Then come with Kemi and I while we get our tree out in the bush...bring B and Adam...He can cut our tree after Kemi picks it out, carry our tree back to the truck, tie it down, come back to our house, help me put it in the stand and carry it into the house.
This would give you the best of all worlds...the convenience of getting your own close by, the tradition of going into the bush to get a tree, the photo op for both, ...and it would save me a lot of work!!!!!!
....and then lunch at Davidson's! Are you coming, Hawley's????
In Him,
Granddad
B!!! Is this even a question? Into the WOODS you Go!
love, Izzz
I say Doug has the answer!

I vote for trecking into the woods. Much better memories & photo ops! You won't regret it. :)
