we.have.closed.

And..............................breath. I'm literally taking a big ol' exhale as I type. Whew! As of today, Adam and I are officially home owners!! WHO HOO!! After 10 years of marriage we bit the bullet, signed on the dotted line and its a done deal! Let me just tell you how it all went down. We were originally supposed to close on May 21st, um yeah...that clearly didn't happen, I won't bore you all with all the many reasons why (some of which I don't think I even need to understand) but I will tell you about the events of today.

When I opened my door around 9:30am the docs were on our doorstep, sweet! I had a play date with a friend planned so was gone for a large part of the day, back by 3pm, thinking we'd have plenty of time to sign and drop off the docs at fedex. Well, Adam got home about 3:10pm, we headed to the bank shortly after that to get everything notarized, get the cashier check, etc. Mean while we have a very tired 3 year old who didn't get a nap and was whining, pulling at us, needing to go to the bathroom, etc.. The notary wasn't overly friendly and I think just wanted us out of her space, Adam and I are a bit snappy as we're both a little stressed and signing like crazy to the point where our signatures were no longer recognizable. After we're done signing we get ready to leave but then realize the notary forgot a couple pages, she has already started helping someone else and I'm trying to wave her down, she comes out, signs the other forms, then we head out. We drive to the closest ups store, they don't have a pick up that will come for the rest of the day but they tell us where the closest fedex store is about 5 min away, we get there, Adam walks our docs in and comes out a few minutes later shaking his head...what? "um, they don't have any pick ups for the rest of the day, we have to drive all the way out to the fedex by the Portland airport, the last pick up is at 5:30." At this point its around 4:30ish, doable. We start driving out to Portland, there is traffic, our very tired daughter is still very tired and whiny, our gps is telling us where to turn, construction, we turn around, realize we can make it thru, and get to the fedex store in time. BIG SIGH. Docs are out, we're all taking a deep breath and B is going to bed early tonight, happy ending. We're home owners!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And now we wait for our check for 8K from the government, thanks pres! :)
