i spoke too soon

I thought summer was here to stay, I was wrong. Oh well, its not the first time and surely won't be the last. I haven't felt too much like blogging this week...the rain, the mess of my house due to packing, the occasional "blahs" have taken over this week- and won. So, today is just some random thoughts b/c I'm tired of logging onto the internet and the popsicle post being the first thing I see...I can only handle the same post being on top for so long. :)
Lets see...over here we are started to get into countdown mode, its July 2nd and we officially move out of our house on August 6th -so, essentially a month to go! I've insisted that this move not be stressful. Since we've moved a lot in the past couple years I've seen how the process can turn Adam and I into train wrecks and I'm bound and determined to not let that be the case this time. We have time to pack, we have a place to stay before we move so there is no excuse to be pushing it to the last second and making everyone insane. So, we box a little every day and make some good progress.
Some folks came and picked up the armoire that we sold last night, B was sad to see it go (poor girl is like her mom and hates change) but it made me excited. To see the empty space and see the progress of moving forward was really exciting to me. And, it went to a great home and I love that the new owner loves it, that makes me happy.
The 4th of July is this weekend, hooray! I LOVE the 4th of July, I'm not really sure why exactly but its just fun. The yummy treats, the fireworks, cute outfits for the kiddos, etc.. it is just a holiday that I really enjoy (and its one of my favorite people's birthday :)). What are you all doing for the 4th? While I was packing up my kitchen I found these star shaped tins that my mom bought me ages ago that I've done nothing with, I think I'm going to make little cupcakes with them...I know, how exciting. :) (insert sarcastic tone) but hopefully cute!
I keep looking at photos of the inside of my house and trying to visualize where things will go...thats really hard by the way. I thought I took photos of every wall, etc but I didn't and its making me nuts! I can't wait to get in there and make it my own. Sometimes I have so many ideas I'm on sensory overload and sometimes I can't even get one clear idea together...any one else have that problem?
I've been watching the show 9 by Design lately and loving it. First of all, I'm passionate about interior design but also, a family with 7 kids with rad names -just plain old cool. I'm not sure I could really name a kid "Five" but I still think its pretty cool. I bought into the hype and ordered the book, I can't wait for it to arrive!
Ok folks, I'm gonna go shower and make my trek to Target to get my essentials for the week -happy weekend and tell me what you're doing to celebrate the 4th! (or just some random thing that you feel like sharing...lets hear it). xo

Have fun...hottest and driest summer here in over 80 years. That's right you read correctly...Ireland is dry and warm!

Just curious...did you decide to paint the woodwork or not? Or still undecided?

That's a good plan to pack along the way, you'll be much happier in those last days.

As for my plans for the 4th...Um, sleep in? (Which means I'll be wide awake by 7:30am.) It's set to be a lazy day ending with fireworks-viewing with friends and a cookout the following day to celebrate my birth. Should be nice. Wish I was there to taste your cupcakes. Eat a couple for me!

Have lots of fun! We'll be bar-b-quing, playing a little croquet (now that we have a 6th ball), horse shoes, bacci ball, and eating fresh logan/raspberry pie a la mode!!!

Hi Molly:

What am I doing for the 4th of July weekend? ....why, I'm spending it with YOU, and Adam and B, and Jacob, and Ahnalisa, and KK, and Kemi and Hillory, ...and ME.

Can't wait!

In Him,

Granddad

Your little interior design comment has inspired me some. Think I'm going blast the music as high as possible and paint this dump!

So sorry about the weather up there -- Another month and it will all be over!

I can totally relate to becoming a trainwreck via the nightmare of packing...good luck!! Starting early does help a TONG for me, although I still tend to be prone to a meltdown or two :(
