it was a good kind of busy weekend

Whew! How is it Monday already?! This weekend flew by for me! The ol' blog hasn't been very personal lately so here is a random rambly post for those interested in the day to day details of our lives. We are loving Texas, loving. I'd say this is the fastest I have felt at home out of all the moves we've made in the past couple years. I love the friendliness of folks in the south and their desire to genuinely see you feel at home. People at our church have really embraced us and made us feel like we've been here forever, I love that! Each day the house comes together a little more, I learn my way around Waco a little better, and I am just overall starting to feel more like myself again. Happy sigh.

This weekend I tried 2 new recipes and both were yummy so if you are looking for some fall treats, try these pumpkin chocolate chip muffins, or this french apple crumble pie. I realized I had never made a pie before! That seems so crazy to me! And I had certainly never made a crust from scratch! I'm not gonna lie, it was a decent amount of work but it tasted sooo good (if I do say so myself). Our new friends invited us to their "Pumplefest" party, you had to bring something that either had pumpkin or apple, so that was my inspiration. :)

The weekend rounded off with a family photo session out in the country last night. This family had me laughing non-stop. I can't wait to share their images with you! Here is a teaser of what's to come....I chose this image lest you forget that I now live in Texas. :) Happy Monday, all! xo

Ha! Love that photo of the men and their guns. What character you can see in it. And a "pumplefest" party!? What a great idea! I'll have to store that one in the back of my head for the future. PS - How are the outfit selections coming along for our shoot? :)

Hi Molly:

I am SO GLAD we have Texas in the USA! It is like a good keel for the country....and having folks that pack their weapons proudly really scratches my itch!

In Him,

Granddad

1.) 'Pumplefest' - so gonna steal that.
2.) That image could not say Tx any more. Awesomeness.

What an awesome picture - must be quintessential Texan men huh? I'll have to show this to Bill who for some reason has recently become interested in guns (not in a creepy way). Miss you and I'm so glad you feel at home already. The muffins sound great.
