my first installment of sweet peas and snakes

There are a handful of blogs that I read religiously. One of the bloggers that I follow often does a post called "kisses and disses," aka things she's currently liking and things she's currently not a fan of. I am going to steal this idea, but to maintain some originality I'm going to call mine "sweet peas and snakes." To explain my title a bit...remember that movie from the 80's with Bette Midler and Lily Tomlin, called "Big Business"? They are twins switched at birth who are total opposites and find each other later in life. Anyway, in the movie when Lily Tomlin doesn't like someone she gives them "snakes" -she holds up her 2 fingers (pointer and middle) and bends them and makes a hissing sound at the person she doesn't like. I've taken to doing this over the past 20ish years. When I don't like something it gets "snakes" from me. So, there's that explanation (don't you all want that 30 seconds of your life back that you just spent reading that? yeah...sorry). As for the "sweet peas," -that's' not much of a story. When B is being a stinker I tell her I want her to be "sweet peas," I know, it sounds cheesy and I have no clue where it came from, I just know that I often find myself saying "that wasn't very sweet peas" if she's being mean or something. So, there's that. So now that's I've laid the foundation, these types of posts will be every so often when I feel the need to share things that I'm digging, or not digging at my current moment in time. :) If you feel no need to read these posts...eh, I don't really blame you, but its ON!

Snakes:

*the birds that keep pooping on my back stoop. I have no clue where they sit b/c I never see them but each day I notice more and more poop in the exact same spot on the first step walking out my back door....SO not cool

*the butter here, it kinda makes me crazy that my whole life (well, other than Ireland) I've purchased butter in a long rectangle sized box with 4 half cup cubes in it, but here in TX, they are small boxes with small long cubes that look weird to me -no likey

*all the one way streets in Waco, it not a downtown city, what's up w/ that?!

*the bees at the park, they swarm and hover here. On Sunday B dropped her hamburger b/c one landed on her hand and wouldn't leave her alone. sigh, enough said.

*the ghetto gate in our backyard. Its super heavy and awkward to open, but we close it every night to add some safety, so opening it each day...ugh. (thankfully Adam leaves before me almost every time) :)

Sweet Peas:

*the weather! fall in Waco is outstanding, about 70's -low 80's during the day, and then perfectly pleasant into the evening. LOVE.

*my neighbors, I'm kinda in love with them

*easy to make muffins that taste divine (recipe link on post below)

*sleeping in a king size bed! how did we wait 10 years to do this?!

*Simply Lemonade, I think it tastes sooo good and its so much cheaper down here than in the NW, I paid $1.94 for a bottle the other day, pure heaven!

*mom comes in 2 weeks!!

*B turns 4 in 2 weeks! (hmm...maybe that's a snake?), but I do love her birthday and can't wait to celebrate her!

*and lastly for this installment, the zoo. I haven't been a huge fan of the zoo over the years, but the zoo is literally 4 minutes from our house and you can buy a year long pass for $60. Brennan has already been to the zoo 3-4 times in the past month, that's kind of awesome to me.

Ok folks! That's gonna be a wrap on this installment of snakes and sweet peas, I'll end with a sneak peek of a newborn shoot. Happy Tuesday! xo

I like this idea (and I think it's hilarious that you 'snake' people like Lily Tomlin). I wish Simply Lemonade was cheaper here, I would buy it all the time.
I can't wait to see more from the newborn shoot. I love pics of families in their beds with their kiddos - so cozy.
