baby, its cold INside!
Okay so its cold. I realize the mid-west is where it is really cold, but still, Waco is cold. I have never in my life experienced "rolling blackouts." They are intentionally turning off the power in 15 minute incraments all over the state to conserve energy. As annoying as this is at least you know its only for 15 minutes at a time. Well, much to my chagrin Adam decided that the night before last we really didn't need to keep our heat on all night, its plenty warm under our covers. Well, we woke up to 44 degrees in our house and by the time we left to go to our friends house for dinner last night (at 6pm) our house was only 62 degrees after running the heat all.day.long. Well, when we got back to our house at 8:30pm our power was off. Lovely. We figured it would only last for 15 minutes so we put B to bed and were just sitting on the couch in the dark. After a while our neighbor came over and told us she had talked to the energy folks and the power was going to be off for 2-3 hours!! BRRR. Adam and I decided there was no point to sitting in the cold and the darkness so we just went to bed (back to the guest room for another night!). Adam and I stirred around 1am and the power was still off, this was not a good sign and it was COLD in our house!! Well, around 5am the power was still out and Adam realized he forgot to take out the garabage bins (for the second week in a row) so he gets up to do that (it was probably around12 degrees outside at this point). Mean while Brennan starts crying and saying that her leg hurts. I go crawl into bed w/ B to rub her leg and lay with her for a bit (I SO didn't want to get out of my warm bed to brave the cold hallway, of course the one night she wakes up its the one night we have no power). A while later I get back into bed, Adam comes inside and says he called the energy company and left a message with our address saying we have no power. We go back to bed. Around 8:30am this morning Adam gets up and sees the energy truck outside (we still have no power at this point), the guy had just gotten here. The man says this is the first he's heard about the power outage, he proceeds to go behind our block and does something really quick, and then instantly our power comes back on. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!! All it took was some little "fix" and we could've had power 12 hours ago?!! Sigh. So, its going to be another COLD day in the Winn household, thankfully school is back on today so B will be warm for part of the day (when we woke up this morning it was 41 degrees in our house). Ay yi yi. Thank you mom for my barefoot dreams blanket, thank you Hillory for my barefoot dreams bathrobe -the only way I'm surviving at this point!

My oh my -- you poor people! This sound like one of my worst nightmares! Now you can probably say "Waco is where I've experienced the hottest and the coldest days of my life." Praying for some warmer Waco weather.
Love, Kemi
I agree with Kemi....NIGHTMARE! I am so thankful you will have some relief today. I'll be praying with Kemi for some warmer weather!
XXOO
Mom
I know this is weird, but I wish I could've been there with you! I think I just miss you, especially during cold weather.
Oh my gosh Mol - brrr! I didn't realize (until I actually checked the news) how cold it is even in TX right now. I was shocked! Hope your power is back on & you're warm and toasty right now. :)
Rolling blackouts - doesn't that sound nice and easy? It rolls right off the tongue. But when we lived in Guam, they were 2 hours on and 2 hours off and our problem was heat to the point of suffocation. Finally they changed the name to "Power Sharing" thinking we'd feel much better under that terminology. It didn't work. I'm sorry you're going through such cold times.
AWFUL! I absolutely hate being cold! So miserable :(
